  1. Oh h**l yes! It is something we must do...and do as quickly as possible!

  2. YES most definately.

    Especially small scale local ideas.

  3. YES!!! and it would be so easy if people would just do it. Sadly, corp greed makes it hard.

  4. absolutely, the environment plays a larger role in daily life than we have given it credit. if we don't shift our paradigm to a  sustainability, we will only see more natural disasters,  shortage of water, decrease in biodiversity (which has serious consequences!), more wars over resources, landfills overflowing with our unnecessary waste, etc etc etc.

we have to act NOW and it starts by each one of us considering our carbon foot print and how to mitigate our impact.

  5. yes its a must, Because without energy no development could occur. and in future we cannot rely on a single source of energy like fossil fuels and hydel power. I n future we have to to seek for a mix of energy sources.

  6. huh

  7. It is not a priority it is absolutely necessary. What would actually happen if we ran out of electricity. Just think about it for a second. It would be a nightmare. Most people would die and go starving. God we couldn't even go on yahoo answers. I rekon we should pass a law that electricity must come from renewable. If windmill things weren't such a complete rip off and solar panels i'd have fitted it ages ago.

  8. I say yes. there is one built here in las vegas and i think it's a great idea.

  9. i saw someone say that if windmills were not so expensive and solar pannels then they would have had them ages ago.

well lets see,,,,, is it really money (OR LACK OF IT) thats the problem should we really be worried about money??

    or

should we be more worried that most of these devices take more energy to manufacture and distribute than they will save in their serviciable life.....

yet we try to use them we pay shed loads for them but is it these we need or does some real research need to go into it

  10. Absolutely. The longer we wait,  the harder it will be on us.

I'm thinking I'll need to buy 2 acres of land and plant it with switchgrass to convert to ethanol if gas prices go up much more. I figure a 7 year payback period at $3.65/gal.

  11. Of course, once we get enough nuclear power to get off fossil fuels.

The priority has to be to stop burning fossil fuels, rather than to add renewable fuels to our fossil fuel combustion.

If you want to CREATE a DEMAND FOR  renewables, mandate a sharp and progressive reduction in the amount of fossil fuels we extract and import.

As long as we have easy accedss to unlimited fossil fuel we will not make alternatives a priority.
