Here's the deal, Im power two amps, one that is going to run at approx. 800 watts rms at 2 ohms and the other one between 300 and 400 watts rms at 4 ohms. Is 0 gauge wire too much to run it into the trunk and use a fuseless distribution block to make it into two 4 gauge wires for each amp? The 0 gauge wire also has a 250 amp anl fuse if that matters. Thanks

  1. Thats Perfectbelieve it or not but if cost is an issue you can use 1 or 4 gauge wire

  2. It would not be too much.  I would recommend using a fused distribution block just to be safe though.

  3. For the most part, you can never have too large a gage of wire.

  4. The wire selection is fine, as it's better too much then too little.  The only thing you might want to consider is the fuse by the battery.  250A fuse might be way too high ... you want the fuse by the battery to be as close to the sum of the fuse ratings of the two amps, without going lower then that sum.  Based on the RMS ratings, a 125A ANL fuse sounds about right.  You can purchase the ANL fuses seperately ... for a mere few bucks a pop.

  5. this is not too much, it is good  to  be able to have as much power as your system needs and more.
