Question:

01 Vulcan 1500 clutch problem?

Clutch slips when bike heats up. I've installed new friction plates, new heavy duty clutch spring, changed hydraulic clutch fluid, and motor oil.

The clutch is very good cold, but as it heats up, it begins slipping until is almost completely gone.

  1. Thats a crock about not using synthetic. I have used synthetic since day one without an issue.

  2. I went through the same problem with my 2000 Vulcan 1500. After replacing all sorts of parts and still after riding the bike a few miles I would still have slipping. Then I removed the cap for the clutc fluid. Sucked all the old fluid out and cleaned the reservoir with brake cleaner. At the bottom of the reservoir there is 2 holes. One of them will have a very tiny check ball in it. I took a straight needle and pressed in on this check ball and when I did you should have seen the pressure that was still in the clutch line meaning that even thought the cluths lever was all the way released, the clutch plates were still being held apart. Once I cleaned the check valve hole, refilled with dot 4 and bled the clutch, it has never slipped again.

  3. please the adress for the clutch by trubo tec.
i cant find it in the web.
    thanks

  4. I used to have the same problem, and after having the clutch spring replaced at 35,000 miles, it started to slip again at 75,000 miles.  Having had enough of this issue, I replaced the entire clutch with one made by TruboTec which was designed to be used in a Vulcan drag bike.  It was the best $200.00 I spent.  At 95,000 miles it still out performs the Kawasaki designed clutch.  No slipping, better shifting.
