I read up on things that go wrong with trailblazers quite often. And theres a fan on my trailblazer that kicks in when i take off. it used to do it with my air or what i thought but now it is doing it just about every time i take off from a complete stop and doesnt kick out til about 40 mph. any ideas on what it could be? the website said fan clutch assembly goes out often on trailblazers could that be it?

  1. is it a belty driven fan or an electric fan?  it makes a difference.

  2. these fan clutches are electronically controlled by the computer.changes in temprature determine amount of on/off time .yes they do go bad often however are fairly expensive part and labor wise.when it truly goes bad it will turn on the "service engine soon" or "check engine light" because the fan speed readings will differ from the engine RPM.

  3. axel 1667 is correct if it is truly bad service engine soon will come on and also your "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" lamp should also illuminate and yes this is a VERY common problem on trailblazers and i would almost guarantee that the sensor on your fan has failed...
