I have an 02 WRX with a K&N Typhoon intake, which is my only mod so far. My next step is to get the turbo xs TBE system but I was looking at their FMIC and it says it needs a short ram intake, (such as the TXS model) to be installed, does anyone know if I will need to replace my intake, or will it fit with the one I have now? Also what does JDM?

  1. unless you have an upgraded turbo you don't need a front mount (unless you enjoy lag and pressure drop) the top mount is fine, and if you upgrade to an STI one it'll be good for 300hp easy, for less than half the cost. Simply having a bigger intercooler will not add HP, without proper supporting mods your performance will actually suffer.

The same basically goes for the TBE as well, without a tune of some sort you'll see virtually no gains with our cars. My advice is instead of wasting money on a FMIC you don't need. Buy the full exhaust AND a Cobb AcessPort (used can be had for $300-500), flash your ECU to stage 2 and enjoy your 260-270 crank HP.

A very good forum for info (you should be a part of before you start doing any mods) is Nasioc.com. Check it out and start researching.

btw: JDM simply means Japanese Domestic Market, parts usually demand a premium cost, but doesn't mean it's necessarily better.
