03 VW Stereo reads "check,"can I fix it?

Question

My 2003 VW Golf Stereo randomly stopped working the other day. The lights will turn on but nothing else happens (no radio, no cd, no cassette). The display lights come on and now the display reads "check." It's under warranty and the dealership is going to replace it but it'll take 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there anyway to reset the stereo or am I stuck without music for a while?

check refers to - check the speaker connections

check if +ve -ve terminal are not touching

make sure speakers are not touching the body chasis..

other than that there cannot be any problem
