05 Ford focus E-brake light stays on?

I just changed rear shoes(drums) on this car and brakes work fine altho E-brake light on dash stays on, How can I adjust this?

  1. low fluid in the reservoir will cause this, check that first.


  2. You may need to adjust the e-brake cable.  Did you check the brake and make sure it is in fact working?  Check and make sure the cable is properly connected too.  It could've accidentally got disconnected when you were changing the rear brakes.  Shouldn't have anything to do with the fluid.  My boyfriend said to put the shoes are self adjusting and if you put in reverse it will automatically adjust itself to the right position.  He works in the service department at a Ford dealer so he knows about this stuff.  It sounds crazy but I guess it's worth a try.

  3. if your brakes are worn down. this light will come on :(

    have you had your brakes checked lately :)

    if the sensors detect the brakes at under 20% it will make the light go off
