  1. Yes its unsafe. The mileage of the bike may be low but that tire could be as old as the bike. Any sidewall crack could lead to a blow out......not nice in a car never mind a bike!

The rule of thumb is to replace any bike tyre older than five years old regardless of visual condition........If you live somewhere colder or hotter than average then replace sooner as the temp variation harms the rubber.

  2. A motorcycle will not pass the yearly inspection with dry-rot or cracks on the side walls of tires.

  3. I think you know everybody's response to this question...

I'm going to be the bigger man and say yes, this is very unsafe.  Most tire failures, especially those at high speeds, occur at the sidewall, not the tread.

The V*650 is a great bike, I had a guy try to sell me one a couple of weeks ago for 4 grand, I should have bought it.

Will you be joining us this weekend in Daytona for the Cup race?  We'll be in the infield, look for an RV with an American flag, a Dale Earnhardt #3 flag and a H-D flag.

  4. Get a trailer, go to the shop, and get it replaced.

  5. Don't pay any attention to those people, Joe B , I'm sure Maddog would tell you the same thing, Take the bike out a run it as fast as it will go and as far as you can go, if this doesn't get the cracks out the 1st time just keep doing it, they will eventually go away. Any thing to help Ol' Buddy

  6. Three years is pretty young for a tire to be dry rottet. But, the front tire isn't something you take chances with. Some nitwit might have been cleaning it with acetone or something. Get a new one.
