06 350Z vs 06 STi in race?

Question

The STi is completely stock and the Z has Nismo CAI, Exhaust, Headers and Camshafts. Who will win in a race, straightway? What does the driver in the Z have to do to beat the STi?

The STi is faster. I believe that the 1st answerer who said the 350Z is rated better is confused.  The times he posted are supposed to be how many seconds it takes to get from 0-60mph, but i think they think it is an acceleration rating out of 10, 10 being the best, LOL.

Anyways, the STi will still be faster than the 350Z even with the mods.  What the Nissan owner needs to do is get their car tuned.  Adding performance camshafts wont do anything if you dont tune your engine.

The 06 STI goes 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

The 350z goes 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.

Those are the rated times posted by Subaru and Nissan. The first person who answered your question claims the STI is rated lower for acceleration, I don't see how that could be if the STI is rated at 4.8 seconds while the 350z is eight tenths of a second slower to 60. With your mods the race would be close, all depends upon how well you shift and how well you both launch your cars (most STI owners tend to like to launch their cars off the starting line). I think the race would be very close and really depends on who shifts cleaner that and who is running the better pair of tires (sticky tires help a lot with getting off the starting line faster).

Here's a true, unbiased answer. I have driven both cars before and they are fun in their own ways. If you are racing from a dig (a complete stop), it will be a driver's race (meaning that either car can win...it comes down to which driver is more skilled). This is because with all of the mods listed, the 350z is a low 13/high 12 second quarter mile car. A stock STi runs low 13 seconds because of its all-wheel drive advantage and some really skilled drivers have gotten high 12s (i.e. 12.9). If you race from a roll, hands down the 350z WILL win because the STi's all-wheel drive advantage no longer comes into play. So to ensure a win, just make sure to race a stock STi while both cars are already moving.
