Question:

08 L7 15" subs, question about the box, port and subs direction and tuning it?

I got a couple '08 L7 15"s, I want to build a box that will be in a Ford expedition.

I will be pushing them with a kicker 06zx1500.1 amp for now, but I will be getting a 06zx2500.1 in a couple weeks.

Anyways, my questions is this....

I want to go with a ported box, I read the bigget the better, so I went on the kicker's web site and they way 6.25 QF per driver.

Now, if I build this box, what would be the ideal placement of the subs and the port? Subs up port up? subs up port back? subs back port back?

Also, what would be the best tunning for it? I was told around 28 hertz will be pretty good.

I like it to be loud and deep base.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Dimitris

  1. in my experience i have installed in the same vehicle

2 15s facing up the reason is that you save more space vertically and point the ports to the rear of the vehicle for reenforcement i dont know if people are using loading boards for open air vehicles anymore but that used to work really well back in the day

    loading board?

you place a piece of mdf or plexiglass half the size of the sub over the box kinda like a bandpass box you got 15s you would place a piece over the subs 7.5 inches above

that would give the subs some resistance (push back)

    trunk effect

not really sure on the numbers or facts but thats the way we used to do it

  2. check out this site for boxes (you wont be disapointed) http://www.obcon.com/
