I'm trying to decide between getting a smaller iron or a larger one-- I went to the salon a few days ago and I think they used a Chi to do big (as in the diameter of the curl is large) loose curls (that are almost waves) that I really liked. I'm wondering if with flat irons, like curling irons, it is the size of the iron that determines the diameter of the curl? Or can the 1inch flat iron accomplish the same kind of curl as a larger one?

I'm really tempted to buy the 1inch pink Solia because it's so cute but of course if I find out it won't do what I want, I'm going to get a larger one instead.

My hair is long, thick, and the strands individually are pretty thick too. But it's fairly straight with a lot of layers, so I'm not trying to tame my hair with a flat iron, just to take out some of the frizz and to do some loose curls/waves.

Which size should I get?

PS. I am really set on getting a Solia so please don't tell me to get a Sedu or a Chi instead.

  1. I guess the bigger the larger curls

  2. for big loose curls, get the 1 3/4 one.

for the maximum big loose curls that is.

if you just want loose curls just get a 1 1/4, you dont have to make really tight curls and the curls will come out loose anyways.

i have a 1 1/4 solia and it does nice big curls for me if i do it loosely, it wont be as big as the 1 3/4 solia.

][i dont like the chi, it breaks too easily]
