Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase a 1,000 Italian Lira coin? I moved from Palermo, Sicily almost 9 years ago to Little Italy, Manhattan, NY, when I was 6. And, since then I have collected coins from different countries. I have looked everywhere on the internet, places like amazon.com, ebay.com and have 0 luck. I am looking in the wrong places maybe? I know the lira has been replaced by the euro, but I am so amazed by currency. And the "older" history of my country. I was looking for one maybe the dates between, 1946 and 1962. I just want a little something to add to my collection and to remind me of my home! Grazie!!^^

  1. You are not going to get a 1000 Lire coin from those dates. A paper note from 1962 but nothing from 1946. Even 5 Lire in 1946 was a lot of money.Actually Italian coins from 1946 are quite rare a 5 Lira books for over $100.00 and goes up from there. A one Lire coin will cost you about $10, if you can find one. You can try the following www.harlanjberk.com, www.anythinganywhere.com (well known world coin dealer), www.dharrisonco.com, You can also email theroses2@att.net, they have a very large selection of world coins
