I have a 1400 sq. ft. home on pier & beam, all it needs is some shimming to help close about 4 or 5 doors, all of the blocking is pretty much in place, quite a few, I might add.

It just really needs some tweaking in several places, it's all wood from the 1800's, the previous owner had it relevelled about a year and a half ago. I just got a quote for $1,800....WTF....over?

  1. To be done correctly, concrete piers will have to be poured, if they do not do this I would go to someone else. Concrete will either have to be mixed or bought in bulk. This would be a fair price in my book if done correct. I have tried leveling house once in my life and that is enough. You would not believe the amount of hard work involved...

  2. wow does sound like alot...i would call around...and i would call the previous owner to see how much they paid..call a mobile home setter upper company...they should be able to do it..and they should only charge a few hundred dollars not almost two grand

  3. Jump on it. But no money up front. They do the job and then you pay. That way everything will close and your happy.

Only alternative is do it your self. I had to in one of my houses. Its a job , but I did it. Hydraulic jacks and all.

  4. I helped my dad level a 900 sq' house many years ago and I think $1800 isn't a bad price for all the work that in involved crawling under and jacking it up little by little and in different areas at the same time.

I would get 1-2 more bids but I think it sounds decent
