Question:

1-07 fail error!? Can i save my HD???

I have a 2.5" hd in my laptop, which i recently tried to format using XP disk so i could start afresh. When running the NTFS format the laptop froze, so i rebooted.

Now i cant even load the disk, it seems very slow running the initial boot check too.

i ran the HD test in the BIOS and i was given the error report '#1-07 fail error' which apparently means the boot sector is knackered.

I just wanna get the thing formatted so i don't have to buy a new HDD, any suggestions??

  1. You need a new hard drive.

This is a SMART error code indicating too many seek errors. Your drive has physical damage causing it to misread sectors too frequently.

Look here for your error, under 07 SEEK ERROR RATE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-Monito...
