I am planning a vacation and my travel agent suggested four night trips to Kyrenia in northern Cyprus, I have no idea about it and I don't know any one already been there. Had anyone been there? What am I concerned in my vacation is good beaches, lively atmosphere and nightlife. Is this a good destination?

  1. I have been there twice for my job, but I had the chance to wander around it. The calming atmosphere of this beautiful sea-front city makes holidaying in Kyrenia a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable experience.  The old town of Kyrenia is filled with whitewashed buildings and the ruins of walls and towers that once protected this city from attack.  Whilst the city of Kyrenia may seem quite and asleep during the day, once the sun sets the atmosphere is transformed as restaurant and tavern owners prepare for the night and the entertainment it brings.

Kyrenia offers a vast array of shopping outlets that provide everything you could possibly need from Cypriot antiques and souvenirs to designer fashions. You should also go to Kyrenia Open Market if you want to say I have been to Kyrenia. There is also an excellent range of restaurants and hotels to suit every budget and taste. Dome Hotel Kyrenia is the most popular hotel in the city.

Kyrenia boasts a mild climate, surrounded by the sea to the north and the Besparmak Mountains to the south.  It is the benefits of both the sea and mountain air that makes Kyrenia an ideal location for a relaxing holiday break.Kyrenia is the perfect location for anyone wishing to explore Northern Cyprus and it also has some spectacular sites of its own that are worth viewing.  The harbour in Kyrenia is home to an ancient castle that houses a museum where you can view ancient ship ruins.  There are also several churches and of course the beautiful untouched countryside is never too far away.

The untouched area of Kyrenia offers a unique holiday experience.  With clear seas, deserted beaches, and breathtaking views you will want to return again and again.

  2. I'd suggest that you shouldn't go for two reasons: First and foremost nothern cyprus is a place where the human rights are constantly violated since 1974 and is governed by an illegal regime supported by the agents of the Turkish paramilitary services. So it is a political isuue. Secondly, I think that every place with Turks is dangerous today as there is the conflict (or better an undeclared war) between the Turks and the Kurds. Even in Turkey, which is an official state and should be safe, 17 people died because of a bomb explosion a few days ago.

Maybe I'm more sensitive with the occupation of Cyprus, cause I'm greek and politically active, but safety has nothing to do with nationalism or whatever. Personally, I'd love to visit all these places in Northern Cyprus and Turkey but I don't feel safe anymore, since the Turkish army had recently invaded in Northern Iraq to eliminate the PKK  members and unfortunately, according to the law of reciprocal actions,: "For every action there is an equal, but opposite, reaction".

  3. yes nothern cyprus is a beautiful place with its nightlife, casinos and its natural beauty.Every year I go there, because I'm happy to be in there...It is my habbit to go there once a year...

  4. Much better is Ayia Napa for what you are looking. Have in mind that generally Northern Cyprus is not a safe place to be. Look it up in the internet.

  5. I wouldn't suggest going to Northern Cyprus. You do know that this state is only internationally recognized by Turkey? And the chances are that you will be staying in stolen property? Why not visit the Republic of Cyprus. It sounds as if Agia Napa will suit you just fine!

  6. Yep, I have been to Kyrenia, it is very nice.

You should visit escape beach it's very nice, has a restaurant with good food and the beach is beautiful.

lively atmosphere and nightlife - Kyrenia has a good feel to it and the night life is good. Four nights is probably a good length of time.

You should visit Ayia Napa if you get a chance, it has good beaches and a great holiday feel and a waterpark

  7. Don't mind the answers above, those users are Greek and they think writing a couple of bad things about Turkey or Norther Cyprus will severely damage Turkish tourism and economy lol. Northern Cyprus is a perfect spot for holidays. Believe me, your least worry should be about the beaches. You'll see when you get there.

If you have any further questions about Northern Cyprus, ask them in Turkey section, you'll get more reliable answers.
