  1. Work backwards.

    Knowing the answer isn't the point. Knowing how you found it is the teacher's goal. If you don't know how 51 is the answer, you should tell whoever told you to s***w off because you'll never learn if you don't do it yourself. If you DID get it yourself, think hard or try doing the problem over again.

  2. Work backwards, i assumed you tried.

    so we know at 12:00 1/3+6 of total students sent home

    at 1:00 1/4 of remaining students were sent home

    at 2:00 the last 21 students were sent home

    so 1/4 is 25%. so 25% of remaining students were sent home at 1:00PM, that means that 75% were the ones released at 2:00PM. so then to figure out the total of 1:00PM students+2:00pm students, u make it 21/x=75/100 (or 21/x=3/4, take your pick) then with a little cross multiplication you find that X = 28

    So there were 28 students at 1:00PM.

    Looking at 12:00 PM the principle sent home 1/3+6 students

    so we ADD the 6 students to the 28 we got giving us a whopping 34 students. and remember how we solved for the 1/4 students at 1:00PM? we do it again except this time its with 1/3 or 33%. So 33.3% were sent home so that means we have 66.6%  or 2/3 remaining. Now we know our 66.6% is equal to 34 from above.

    so then its like just 34/x = 2/3 or 34/x=66.6/100.

    oh then multiply so 34 x 3= 2x

                                     102=2x

                                     102/2=x

                                         x=51

    if you don't understand how i set up the fractions, uhh i guess just send me a reply or something

  3. if you don't know how you got the answer, how do you know it's right. do your own homework.
