1-800-Number Calls and Hangs Up?

Question

Atleast two times a day, a 1-800 number calls my land-line telephone. When I answer and say Hello, you here the "click" from hanging up. Its the same every time. And the weird part is, since I expect it, sometimes I will answer the phone and stay silent, and you don't hear any "click" until you say something. I haven't tried calling this number back or anything - but does anybody know anything about it? Thanks!

that happens to me at least once a day.  I have no idea what it is, it's very annoying though.

Are you sure its a 1-800 number because all these toll free numbers can only receive calls and they cannot call out , because these are virtual lines and if somone calls these 1-800 numbers its is routed to a physical line , and if someone calls you back from that physical line it should show only the local number and not the 800 number and in your case its quite wierd .

contact your service provider and they would assist you.

I've had that happen a couple of times to our home phone.  I'm not sure why it occurs, probably some telemarketing thing, but I rely on caller-id and don't pick up the phone.

i know what it is!!!! it is either a collection agentcie, or a person that sells stuff. (forget what they called) Now, they be stupid, and, THEY call YOU, and then THEY put YOU on HOLD!!!
