  1. Assumptions are what you start with, and do not question.  Building on your assumptions, you take your observations, and then start to use critical thinking to form hypotheses and theories.

    For example: if you assume the earth is the center of the universe, you observe the sun.  It appears to go around the earth.   So you say, "the sun is going around the earth" and everyone says Of course.

    But if you assume the sun is the center of the universe, now the earth is going around IT.  What you assume becomes the foundation of all of your science and critical thinking
