  1. MY invertebrate reproduces by spawning its sperm and eggs (both from the same individual because it's a hermaphrodite) into the water where fertilization occurs.  This is advantageous because my invertebrate is sessile and this allows for the gametes from different individuals to mix together since the adults can't move.

    Now, how does YOUR invertebrate reproduce?
