Well...TECHNICALLY the most wide used language is HTML. Programming wise I'd say C++ has a lot of users who write programs etc., And my high school tech coordinator said at his old company they hired JAVA (not JavaScript) programmers at $90,000 USD...ENTRY LEVEL....that was probably 10 years ago. So from what I've heard if you find the right place JAVA will make you the most money, but that all depends.

1) In general, C++. However, C# and Java are gaining popularity. C# and .Net are used widely in web applications.

2) Again, C++ programmers probably have the edge here. But there isn't a huge gap between C++ programmers and others. It all boils down to the job requirements.
