I have several breeds of chickens and not all of my laying hens are small.I love my rhode island reds and barred rocks and they are pretty hefty birds.I also have americanas that are bigger than my other hens,they lay blue/green eggs and they are delicious.The s*x link hens that are breed just for laying are sometimes breed to be small so that the feed to egg production ratio is small to help save money on feed.
