  1. To pump the blood through the entire body of course! Arteries must be strong to regulate blood pressure and over-all equilibrium.

  2. Blood passes through the arteries in high pressure so arteries have strong walls to with stand this high pressure

  3. ah, I see you're doing your homework. Arteries have strong walls because they are the main conduits for bloodflow. Arteries and veins are the biggest vessels in your body, because they are connected directly to the heart, and have so much blood flowing through them at all times, that they really need to be strong to support such a flow. Think of them like a very big river. it needs to be deep enough for all the water to flow through, but the streams that come off of it can be smaller and much more shallow. If you tried to make more water go down a tiny stream, it would overflow! or in the case of blood vessels... it might burst!! So that's why the arteries must be very strong.

  4. Because the arteries handle the blood forcefully pumping out of the heart, they need to be tougher and stronger and more 'elastic' to handle the greater pressure than the veins which return blood to the heart, under much lower pressure.

That's why 'arterial' bleeding spurts and sprays - it's under significant pressure.

    Hope this answers your question.

    KEEP STUDYING SCIENCE!!!!!

  5. higher pressure blood as it has just been pumped from heart, strong wall is needed to prevent damage

(higher pressure blood compared to the veins)

  6. more force in arteries...they are delivering the fresh blood from the heart. Veins have no direct pressure pushing the blood back like the Arteries

  7. the have to hold in all that blood that gushing through your body

  8. so the blood doesn't come bursting out of them...

  9. cause they have to hold large amount of fast flowing blood...i think lol
