I have a 1600 watt amp 2 ohm stable but have 2 rockford fosgate p3 12 inch subwoofers. I was told that because of the way the speakers were wired, I needed a 1 ohm stable amp. Could I still hook them up to my other amp or do I have to by another amp. Also, what is the difference on 1 ohm and 2 ohms stable amps i this situation.

  1. person above is right but its not all neccesary u can run any ohm through just about any speaker say for instance the speakers were 4 ohm and you have a 2 ohm amp it will still work but you would probably want to get a lower wattage amp just because 2 ohms produce greater bass than you would here out of a 4.so if you amp is a 2 ohm but the company says rub 1 ohm you dont have to  it just make sense if you want to run the speakers full power, to match the amps peak to the woofers peak that way you can still get the most power out of the subs. and also make sure the rms is around the same for both amp and subs!

  2. A 1 ohm amp is a much higher output amp than a 2 ohm or 4 ohm amp. Speakers must match the Amp or kinda close unless you keep the volume way down.
