Question:

1 cm Dilated what can I do to further dilation?

Hi I am 1 cm dilated was told that last week and now today. I am 38 weeks pregnant not ina rush to have my baby, just want the info. so later I hope I can go into labor naturally without the doctors help. I know it will happen if its meant to happen soon but my body seems not to want to do anything. LOL. Just want to do things natural and right. Had to have my water broke with the first. I hope that it will break on its own this time. Thanks

  1. if u want to try to go into labor try s*x,walking and squats.if that doesnt do it then its not ready to come out.good luck!


  2. s*x! It releases a hormone called oxytocin, which causes the uterus to contract. Additionally, s***n contains a substance known as prostaglandins, which will help soften the cervix. Also, plenty of walking really helps, nipple stimulation and eating spicy foods and/or pineapple. Or, do what some swear by but others don't suggest and do the Orange Juice, Ice Cream, Castor Oil shake. Good luck and congrats!!!!

  3. I only started dilating four days before my son was born (at 41 weeks) and it happened in spurts (3cm in an hour then nothing for three days, then 2cm over 24 hrs... etc) Perfectly normal.

    Walking, swimming and squatting will help baby's head descend and that should help things along. I have listed a few other things you could try to help bring labour on naturally.

    - nipple stimulation

    - acupressure/acupuncture

    - spicy food, as long as it doesn't give you heartburn

    - red raspberry leaf tea

    - essential oils of jasmine, rose, neroli and clary sage.

    - blue and black cohosh (should only be prepared for you by a qualified herbalist/naturopath)

  5. Hello, yes i am in the exact same predicament but had my first 2 induced and am 38 weeks with bub #3 and 2cm dilated.

    I have tried all these, and even though they didnt make me go into natural labour this is what they are for, and i think helped me during my labour. You can drink red raspberry leaf tea or if you know of a herbalist you can get a tincture. Starting at 38 weeks is a little late. You can try other herbs too, but unless we went through your medical history i would not recommened any others. But there are many out there to tone the uterus.
