I'll be on a med cruise in august. Palermo is one of our ports of call. We are not very interested in historic ruins. So what do u suggest we can do/see on this one day in palermo?

P.S. we are not planning to take any of the cruise's shore excursions. we prefer touring on our own.

  1. I have been to Italy but our cruise ship did not stop in Palermo.  But here are some web links to help you search for things to do.  The first one looks pretty goo:

  2. I worked on board Premium Cruise Line and stopped in Palermo once.  I remember a really nice outside shopping and cafe district within walking distance of the ship.  If you are looking for culture and want to "get out there", I would advise you to look at the tours offered on the ship (I know you don't want to do this) and pick out something you would like to do.From here you can book a private tour over the internet for the exact same thing for half the price (Swim with Stingrays in Cayman $95 onboard, $35 online).  They will have someone meet you at the pier, take you on tour and bring you back to the ship. Most speak english and those that don't have an interpreter.
