felony was in 2002 larseny one count. 5 years and I'm good for expungement. But I have a larseny charge from 03 that was dismissed on a guilty plee. It was for over 100 dollars but under 500. I was given probation and fines. No jail time for the misdemeanor. Do I have any chance of getting these sealed or expunged in michigan. Is there a difference between expungement and sealing a record. I have many jobs that would hire me. Good paying ones if I could just get these off my record. Lesson learned. Please help me someone.

  2. Yes, you can get it expunged. I don't know if there is a difference. Expunged would sound like it is completely removed. Sealed just means that employers can not access that part of your record, but its still there. It can eventually be looked up. Check out this website-criminal  law f.a.q.

It will answer your question in Detail.

I have seen many many men go thru this. If they would only pay the $to get their record expunged. It would be in your best interest to do so.

Good luck to you. You may also want to contact a criminal lawyer who will take your case. Initial consultations usually cost 100 dollars. Find out as much as  you can before you to the meeting with him. After it is over you can move on with your life. Dont try to save a few hundred bucks just to wait years for it to come off.

Also, you can be a barber or work in sales. Those usually are not biased when it comes to background things like that. Check with your P.O. if she/he is helpful with trying to get you a job. If there are typical a******s then dont take what they say to heart. YOU CAN get a good job and move on.

Here is a link to a Michigan criminal lawyer. It says to call for a free confidential consultation. All you can do is ask can they help you or not. Dont get frustrated.

This one is gold for sure. It is geared specifically for Michigan law and record expungement.

  3. OK, a little confused here. You stated that your charge from 03 was DISMISSED on a guilty plea. If your case was dismissed then it means that you were not convicted of that crime. You say that you got probation and fines so that would mean that you were convicted of that crime. Maybe that's why you said I think in your question.

  4. It is my understanding that as of the homeland security act, no records are to be expunged or sealed from view if asked for?

Expunge is to remove as though it never happened.

Sealed is to seal, so as to view later under order from the court, only or for legitimate purposes, as deemed necessary by the court.
