6 ANSWERS

  1. 7,7,14

  2. Let the unknowns be a,b and c.

    a=7 (room a has 7 people)

    b= 1/2 c (room b has half of people in room)

    c= 7+1/2 c (room c has the number of people in a and b combined)

    Solve the third equation to figure out the 1st and 2nd.

    c= 7+1/2c

    -7=-c+1/2c

    14=c

    a=7

    b=1/2(14)=7

    c=14

  3. A = 7

    B = 1/2 (C)

    C = A + B

    C = 7 + 1/2 (C)

    -7 = -C + 1/2 (C)

    -7 = -0.5C

    14 = C

    B = 1/2 (C)

    B = 1/2 (14)

    B = 7

  4. a HAS 7 PEOPLE

      a=7

    but there are half the no. of people in c are in b

    so , b=c/2

    sum of all the people in a and b is equal to people in c

    so 7+c/2 =c

    simplyfying we get c=14      (a=7, b=7 ,c=14

    so ,b=c/2=14/2=7

    so a+b+c=7+7+14=28

  5. Both rooms A and B have 7 people.  Room C has 14.

    According to your question, then:

    A=7

    Room B= 7 (half of room C)

    Room C= A (7) plus B (7) or 14

    As long as there is no stipulation that says no two rooms can have the same number of people, this should be the correct answer.

  6. a=7

    b = 1/2c

    c = ( a + b) which also is (7 + 1/2c)

    so since c = (7 + 1/2c)  we solve for c

    subtract 1/2c from both sides you get

    c - 1/2c = 7

    c is also = to c /1

    and  1/2c is also = to c/2

    therefore

    c/1 - c/2 = 7

    get your common denom

    2c/2  - c/2 =7

    therefore

    c/2 = 7

    then multiply both sides by 2

    we then get

    c = 14

    We know that b = 1/2c

    therefore b = 1/2(14) = 7

    room a has 7

    room b has 7

    and  room c has 14.
