1. my hamster has been awake/running/active all day long 2. scabs on feet 3. x-tremely cranky.?

Question

Hamster is a dwarf; not sure what breed . he's a gray male. Approx; a year old. He has been running around in his cage nonstop today (literally nonstop) on his wheel, and everywhere else in his cage. He is not usually like this he is usually very active at night, getting loads of excersize. he did come out for food/water occasionally during the day. I do not know if there is some kind of problem/disease that can cause a hamster to act like this, or if its just natural. also my hamster has little scabs on its tops of its front paws. have not been able to get a good look at the bottoms. also he has been kind of 'cranky'. he was used to me before (would bite others, but rarely me) but for the past week or so he has been very aggresive towards me, and constantly nips at me.

if anyone has asuggestion plz let give me your answer. even people that are not sure of what this may be, and have an idea...plz post! thnx.

If he's not a dwarf he's a Syrian as for his feet I agree with the answer above me other wise I have no idea.

its a hamster it will myne usually sleep in the day but at night there always up

The breed is probley the most common. the Russin campbell dwarf. these are the main ones sold at petstores.( I got a hybrid breed :) )

Does he have any wire floors in the cage or is his heel wire. because hamsters houldnt be walking/running on any wire surfaces as it causes scabs.

If you have wire floorings. Just take card board and weave it through the wire so he can stand on it .

If you have a wire wheel Just replace it. a habitrail Safari wheel i found is the best and is very quite.

What kind o cage do you use? Also he is probley just in a bad mood because his feet hurt.

If you can show me a picture of his cage i can make suggestions. If you have nothing with a wire surface in a cage im sorry but i dont know then.
