Hi

I am the new owner 2 to fire bellied toads, the biggest named bubble (im guessing shes a girl because she is quite large and has a longer middle finger). she eats quite a lot, has no problem, she is really chilled and actually likes me picking her up... she is really calm and doesnt jump all over the place she just sit on my hand and crawls around.

and then i have squirt... im also guessing he is a he because he is a lot smaller, his middle finger isnt as long as hers, and he is always the 1 that sits on her when they hangout together lol. he is also very jumpy and i dont trust him to take him out the aquairum because he jumps all over the place.

ive noticed he constantly crawls up the walls, apparantly this is stress related when moved into a new home..... he hardly eats, id say 1 crickets about 10 mm in size every 2 or 3 days....but what i dont get is when i first got them both he was fine before, a total piggy when it came to food like bubble.... i worry about how small he is, he is probably just over an inch big, and bubble is like twice his size she has actually grown in the last 3 weeks i swear.

i hand feed them mostly, all i have to do is put a cricket infront of bubble and she gobbles it up.... ive given up with squirt he just jumps away or pushes it out with his hand

anyway i just wanted ur opionion or tips on how to make him better etc??

  1. Try to seperate the smaller one from the larger one. If you don't, the larger one will overpower the smaller one and get all of the food and in turn the smaller one will eventually die from starvation.

  2. Try to take him to a pet shop that sells them! Ask them if they know if there is something wrong.

  3. ok first mistake in this post is u should never handle amphibians they absorb everything through there skin inculding harmful chemicals and salts produced by your skin. also they have easily damaged skin.

i would spilt them up it could be a dominance thing also it could be a stress thing form having such a bigger frog in the tank. when he's bigger they can go back together
