Simplify: – 3/4 (4/5) + 5/7 ÷ 5/3

I got -6/35 with my calculator but when i try to work it out on paper i get a diff answer... what steps do you take to solve this?

  1. First you multiply -3/4 by 4/5. You get -12/20.

    Then you divide 5/7 by 5/3. You get 15/35

    You then simplify -12/20. You get -3/5. You convert that fraction to get a denominator of 35. So you multiply the numerator and denominator by 7. The fraction becomes -21/35.

    You add -21/35 to 15/35 and you get -6/35!

    So your calculator was right.
