Global warming theory has been around for a while; I learned it as a college student in about 1970. But it didn't get much traction then because the Earth was in a deep freeze. Some years later, environmental hysteria focused on global warming rather than cooling because, coincidentally, the climate started to warm.

It's fair to say though that the planet's population of 6.6 billion people is the #1 reason.  When there were a lot fewer of us the environment was able to absorb our excess CO2 in forests and in the ocean's algae.

well green house gases are causing it mainly some man made some are naturally occurring. the over abuse of fossil fuels is the main reason because the trap heat in the atmosphere and don't let it out there is so much in the atmosphere right now it would take 50 years to clear if pollution just stopped
