1 way flights?

hi, im looking to travel to allentown pa to see friends again. im coming out of atlanta. i've looked every where for cheap flights, and all i've found were 450$ ones. now, is it possible to get a 1-way flight to allentown, and to get another 1-way flight back to atlanta? would it be cheaper? answer w/most info gets points.

  1. You "can" do that, but it won't usually be cheaper.  It's cheaper to fly round-trip.  The other thing to be aware of, is that when you fly on a one-way ticket...it "guarantees" that you'll be pulled aside at the TSA checkpoint for a hand-search of your luggage.  Your ticket becomes marked for closer inspection when you fly one-way.  So, you'll be pulled aside twice for a luggage check...once for each flight.


  2. NO!  DO NOT call a travel agent.  True, they do know their stuff, but they don't do it for free.  You are trying to cut costs.  Go to Expedia or PriceLine.  And SWA is pretty good for cheap one-way flights.

  3. One way flights are always more expensive then round trip.  You are going to be charged for just about everything on your trip to make up for money the air lines are losing.  Southwest usually has the best deals - did you look into them?  They also don't have many of these extra charges that others do.
