okay so in winter i was going to the gym and i ran 2-3 miles 5 times a week. In spring i kept doing the same and i had soccer games on saturdays. When i had to run the mile for my school i made it in 7:18. I though it was pretty bad. But soccer try outs are this saturday and i haven't ran since the end of june. I feel in really bad shape. I also put on two pounds. I just fool around with the ball sometimes and i do sweat but i feel its not enough. So what can i do to get me in better shape ? plszzzz. and thnx.

  1. if your out of shape then I guess showing your physical abilities is not what they are going to be looking for and try outs in one week trying to make lost time by overtraining can even make ur situation worse and i dont think your out of shape just well rested 2 pounds is nothing. I belive u should practice the basics dribbling passing shooting control of the ball. do excersise as such to polish ur self up. idont belive coaches will be looking for who is fastest strongest or whos in great shape.its try outs  they want to see who will fit in the system and style. and who doesent like some one who has the basics ..touching the ball looking  for the simple easy way out always vision up. and if your a striker no nonsens put it away.. remember its not the one who makes the best moves or tricks its about who makes the least mistakes taht coaches want

  2. Run like the wind! Run a couple miles a week. Just go outside and try strengthening your weaker foot. Work on bouncing it on your head (Be careful!) Make sure you drink lots of water, eat healthy meals and snacks. Work on just kicking the ball as far as you can. Practice being goalie, even if you don't want to. The coach will want to see all of your skills. Work on charging the ball and not being afraid of it.

  3. baby, you are running outta time, got just 4 days...like everyone is saying...go out and RUN!!!!!!! i have played soccer for over 15years..you gotta have stamina.. i quit like 9yrs ago, went back this January, and even pro FEMALE players lasted longer than I.. i had the skills..but i got tired 15mins into a game.. so what i did was run run run..then you also want to play ALONE!!!....with your ball...after running..take your ball and run with it..cos you gotta run with the ball during games and pass the ball...practice target shooting (for the passes (in difficult situation where you have like 2 players tackling you) and goals). let us know hw it goes.

  4. One very important aspect you have to work on is not your skills, but it's your speed and stamina. so you better start doing that again. you can improve your speed by just running a lot for long periods of time, that will get you more endurable at running too do a lot of biking, which gets your feet stronger, meaning you can run faster. Swimming and lifting weight dramatically improves stamina, so do that. Once you get stronger and faster, you can now work on your skills. first: ball control. You can set up cones on a field and try to run around them with a ball as fast as you can. You'll notice the more you'll do it, the faster you'll be able to do it and that means you can control the ball better already. Then work on your passes and shoots accuracy and power. just set up a target that's far away from you and try to hit it. with a lot of training, you'll get better. now, dribbling skills, if you already have them, the best thing you can do to improve is just play actual games. if you don't, then there isn't much you can do. some people are just good at it and others aren't.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. u need to do a combo of sprinting and jogging. 7:18 is o.k. for a young girl, but you can improve that. Try jogging for 2 blocks, then take off sprinting until you are gassed and resume jogging. Once you have enough energy to sprint again repeat this process. This will give you a quick build-up of stamina and quickness. Make sure you take the day before tryouts off to give your muscles a rest. Good Luck!
