What ever the reason, it may be as simple as the old Beta-max versus VHS battle.  English has become the dominate language of international trade.  India already has the largest population of college graduates that speak English.  Within our life time they will be surpassed by China.  

Within a few years the two most populous nations in the world will be doing business in english.  If you can't do business in english you'll be left out in the cold.
