  1. Polymers.   They contain crystalline domains and non-crystalline domains.   The percentage,  size,  distribution, etc.  of the crystalline domains determine a significant portion of the properties of the polymer.

    One of the more interesting things that can happen is orientation induced crystallinity.   When a fiber of a material like nylon or polyester is oriented and stretched while being extruded, spun and cooled,  it forms a crystalline form which will not otherwise form.   It is particularly strong.
