  1. Hi there...

whole milk...organic if you would like.  I have never boiled the milk.  However, when I first started giving it to my son, I started slowly adding it to his bottles.  He had not reactions the first few days, so I skipped to 1/2 and 1/2 milk/formula and shortly thereafter to just milk.  I wanted to make sure the change would not make him sick (diarrhea or constipation) because babies stomachs are so sensitive and also wanted to make sure he was not lactose intollerant.

I got lucky on both accounts.

Sorry, did not mean to babble.

Good luck to you and your little one.

PS. Because they drink so much milk for the next year, I have chosen to give him organic milk.  As I cannot afford a full organic diet for him, I felt that would be a good start.

  2. Whole cows milk for the age group 1-2 years or atleast 2% but if he has a milk allergy or sensitivity then soy milk should be tried.  No you don't boil milk, at a year old they can handle cold milk straight from the fridge. At 2 years old you switch to 1% or Skim.

  3. You don't need to boil it if it has already been pasteurized--most grocery store milk is pasteurized (heated to a really high temperature during processing).  Young babies need the fat, so whole milk is preferable. Some babies are sensitive to the protein (casein) in milk or lactose (the sugar) intolerant.  Their digestive systems are often not yet ready to digest the large proteins in cow's milk.

If your baby is sensitive, you can try other kinds of milk like goat, or soy. Goat's milk proteins are most like breast milk. Rice milk is not recommended because it doesn't have enough fat.

  4. My son is just over 1 years old.  I give him whole milk, walmart brand.  I put it in the microwave for 20 sec. just to take the chill out.  He takes a bottle first thing in the morning and last thing at night.  He was on formula for lactose sensitivity, so I tried it during the day and he was fine.

    Good Luck!!

  5. you cant give regular milk to a 1yr old... go buy the formula or some shet. it has better nutritional value to help them grow better and stronger.

  6. Whole Milk(vit D milk) no you dont have to boil it. Just put it in the bottle and warm it if you need to!

  7. whole milk and you don't have to boil it.

  8. Regular homogenized Whole Milk (4%) that's been Pasteurization to destroying harmful bacteria.

As long as the milk is pasteurized there's no need to boil it. Otherwise unpasteurized farm milk when boiled is known to protect kids from asthma and hayfever(among other things).

If you want to take a further step you could get whole milk without rBST or organic milk.

  9. 2% r whole milk and no u dont have 2 boil it

  10. ~Whole milk.  They should be on whole vitamin D milk at least until 2 years old.  No boiling.

I warmed my daughter's milk in the microwave for a few seconds, she didn't like the really cold milk.

  11. when my son turned 1 i would mix whole milk half and half with formula and ease him into it.......whole milk has the fats they need......well he turned out to be lactose intolerant so now i give him silk. definately dont need to boil it

  12. whole milk is the best option. they really need the extra fat. no you dont have to boil it. but you can warm it up if your child perfers it warm.

  13. try soy or almond milk -these are the healthiest alternatives.  no boiling needed.  you can warm the milk in the microwave if you child likes it that way.

  14. I go to wic here in Washington state and I also have a 1 year old son. I was told to give him whole milk only and no you don't need to boil it.

  15. You shouldn't have to boil the milk.

You can try whole milk, or 2%, depending on how much solid food your child is eating.

Just remember that even though 12 months is the point most doctors say that its okay to give our children cow's milk, your babies digestive tract isn't on a timer. Be sure to watch for signs of intolerance (Gas, diarrhea, crankiness, rashes) and if your child shows any signs, you many want to wait try soy, or better yet, wait it out a little longer.
