Hi all!!

okay so my daughter just turned 1 & up until now has always been a VERY social girl-even at daycare they will always talk about how cute it is b/c she would crawl (now walk) up to other kids/teachers & give them hugs, smiles, ect....

she still is very social but lately she seems to be a little slower to warm up around other people-

she'll turn her face or hide it in my shoulder or something

usually about 5 minutes later she's totally not acting the shy girl anymore but I was just wondering If this was normal behavior

She's ALWAYS been around a lot of people since birth too, so I dont think its b/c now she's "overwelmed" by new faces.

I just think its weird that not too long ago she could care less about who she smiled at or picked her up & she actually craved the attention & sought it out & now shes more reserved ?

  1. It's normal. Babies hit an age where they start to differentiate between family and people they are close to and "others". They will naturally be a bit shy around people in the "other" group.

  2. Yes, this is normal.  Your baby's cognitive skills are developing, and she now recognizes the difference between strangers and people she knows.  That's a good thing.  It shows that her intellectual skills are growing.
