- i always thought babies knock out easy, this guy is a battle.

- he has to be exhausted before he will go, otherwise keeping us up late every night playing...

- he naps 2 hrs during the day, is that too much? we try to limit his napping to make him tired earlier at night, doesn't work.

- sometimes we give him a sip of coke during the, is that not a good idea? just a little... how many hours does it take for caffeine from coke or chocolate to wear off? we're talking small amounts, like total maybe a half inch at the bottom of the cup...

  1. Yes it's a battle. I think that you have to be patient as when they grow up they get to know when to sleep automatically. but please refrain from giving him artificial foods or drinks as they may ruin your child life as his organs are still growing. consult a dietitian or someone who knows things better & most of all you have to analise thins before doing it. most of all spend time with him as it is the most wanted thing that they want as a child.

    Good Luck!

  2. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH OUR DAUGHTER..

SHE WOULDN'T GO TO SLEEP AT NIGHT WITHOUT BEING IN OUR BED....WITH MY LYING WITH HER...

SO I HAD TO BE STRONG AND PUT HER IN HER CRIB..AND LET HER CRY HER SELF TO SLEEP..

(BTW SHE IS 14 MONTHS OLD)

THE FIRST NIGHT WE DID THIS..SHE CRIED SHE 15 MIN...

    SECOND NIGHT 7 MIN..

    3RD NIGHT....2 MIN..

    4TH NIGHT..WENT TO SLEEP IMM...

SO IT JUST TAKES TIME...ITS QUITE FRUSTRATING....

    HOPE THIS HELPS..

  3. ,no chocolate, honey, or peanuts till after age two   .   no caffeine til age 18  . probably not the cause.  a nightly ritual may be in need. eg.  bath , story, blanket , bears, songs, prayers, etc.  this allows him to know what to expect, eliminates his anxiety, creates security and relaxation within him.  Good luck

  4. my daughter is 2yrs and 5mo and still does not want to go to sleep at night - and she does not take a nap. She has to play EXTREMELY HARD in order to go to sleep at a decent time. She can fall asleep at 2am and be up by 6am. I have 3 kids, and she is the only one who will do this.

One thing that we did was change her nap time. She is no longer allowed to take a nap after 1pm. Also we limit the amount of time for her to sleep. She can only sleep up to 1 hr for her nap. Most of the time, she wakes up on her own after about 30 mins. Another thing, we changed her diet. She is only allowed to have juice, water, milk, and 1 cup of tea a day - no koolaid or sodas, and very, very, VERY little sweets are allowed (absolutely NO candy whatsoever!).

There is a study that links hyperactivity with the dyes in foods. You may want to research it. I did and I cut down on the foods (such as mac n cheese) that contain dyes. I did not completely cut them out, but we stopped eating them as much and I have noticed a small difference in her. Hope this helps some.
