I am hosting a party and helping with all the preperations its for a girl that is turning 14 she will probably be inviting some friends but also all her family will be there with alot of younger kids. So I want to make it cool for her yet have games and things the other kids can play. Also I don't want anything messy. The theme is Tropical Hawiian Beach Getaway it will be in November so it will be indoors at a hall with lots of room.

My Ideas are to decorate half the room in Jungle and Tropical and the other half in as a beach not exactly sure how I will do this yet but I wanted to have beach balls all around. Each child will get a lei and tropical tatoo. I wanted a craft and was thinking about maybe making neclaces with flowers, beads and sheals. Games will include the Limbo, Pass the Coconut, Musical Beach Towels, VolleyBall, Guess the flavor of jelly bean, Hula Hoop Contest, Tacky Tourist Relay and Frezze Dance. Food will be Pizza, Chips Dip, Fruit, Cheese, Ham and Cake.

  1. YAH THATS COOL

    YOU SHOULD MAKE THE CAKE

LIKE A SUNGLASSES OR A SANDAL

  2. sounds fun!

    can i come too?

im 26 and would love this party

  3. 14 year old girl... independence... just be prepared for her wanting to go off and do her own thing at the party

  4. Yeah that sounds like it would be a nice party =]

I might even do something like that for my birthday...

  5. - there are inflatable palm trees; inflatable ornaments take up a lot of space, have seen inflatable grass huts also

    - decorate with leis and make leis; decorate a flip-flop

    - parrot, pineapple or chili pepper patio lights

    - theme related snacks like shish ka-bobs with ham and pineapple, ham and pineapple pizza or guacamole, pineapple punch, macaroons

-beach towels to take home or sunglasses

    - like the braids idea, girls like the "spa" stuff; pineapple tattoos for the fingernails

    - beach music Beach Boys, Bob Marley etc.

    - like the sunglasses cake idea too, go funky with the cake like that

    - have everyone wear a grass skirt

-have one game that takes a little longer thats just for the girl and her friends so that they have time with just themselves

  6. my cousin had a party like this.  i volunteered to braid a few tiny braids in the girls hair and slide some beads on for a tropical look. anyone who is good as braiding could do that.

your ideas sound good, although they do sound a little young for a 14 year old.  you have plenty of games for younger kids, you should try to think of things for her and her friends.  they might like apples to apples or the card game mafia.

  7. Start now and find a video on how to do the hula and organize the girls and parents to watch and learn a dance.  My grand daughter attended a party where this was done and it was a hit for all ages.

If your fruits include bananas, pineapple (fresh spears), kiwi, strawberries, or such you can make an amazing dip:

    Dip:

      8oz cream cheese

      8oz jar marshmallow cream

      1 tsp vanilla

    Blend well.  Chill

Let your guests spoon some onto a plate and dip the pieces of fruit into the dip.  A sure hit.

Another thing that is popular and fun - especially for the younger kids is to put all purpose flour into balloons.  It is crazy the way it feels afterwards.  You just use a funnel, fill the balloon, tie it and it is deceptive.  People don't believe it is flour inside.  The kids can poke it, punch it or whatever, because the balloon is not inflated or overfilled it does not rupture (unless someone gets ahold of scissors or something sharp)!

You might also get several of the adults to rehearse "Tiny Bubbles"  an old song that I am certain many will remember.  By including the adults in the fun you will get more of them to help in the working end also.

Good luck with your party, Aloha!!

  8. Just a suggestion, look around the stores while its still summer. I've seen a lot of Tiki and Luau type of party cups and decorations. You might be able to find something inflatable.

Also, letting them have punch or kool-aid served in a coconut would help to get them into the theme of the party. If you drill a golf ball sized hole in them, they would be less likely to spill if they're dropped or knocked over. Maybe even level off the bottom so they sit evenly.

The party sounds like it would be fun and age appropriate. I'd ask her if she thinks the friends would be into doing a craft because the older ones might not be interested.

    Good luck!

  9. Your idea of half beach, half jungle is a very good one. Maybe for the younger kids, they have their own activities on the Jungle half, and the older kids on the beach half.

  10. That sounds like it will be a great party...A treasurer hunt might be a lot of fun too with clues that lead all over the building.  and maybe a Hawaiian dance contest.  have a lot of fun it looks like you are doing a great job

  11. Really all you need is music, food and people. The guests make the party, nothing else.

  12. i am so insanely jealous, wish my 14th b-day party was that cool, um....... i cant think of any other ideas, but a treasure hunt does sound fun too.
