can a postage stamp be to old to use?

i found stamps in a drawer and they say 2003 on them

can i use them still?

do they ever get outdated or whatever?

please answer.. i know this sounds soo stupid but its a seriouse question..

  1. you can still use it but you have to buy 1 cent stamps in 2003 the stamps were 32 cents n now they are 42 cents


  2. no they're not too old, but they're worth less then they cost now. you just need to buy one cent stamps and add them until they're the right amount.

No, they're not too old to use.  (In fact, the USPS hasn't "de-monetized" stamps since the 1800's, so you can even use stamps that are over 100 years old.  Not a lot of people know that, which is why this is certainly NOT a stupid question!)  But the ones you have are just 37 cents and the current first-class rate is 42 cents, so you'll need to get some 5-cent stamps at the Post Office.  If your letter weighs 2 ounces, the rate is 59 cents.  Using 2 of your old ones would mean you're paying 74 cents, so while you're buying those 5-cent ones, get one for 17 also!  (yep, they sell those, too)

    I have some of those, and I have had "heavy-ish" packages to send and I just stick a bunch of them on. Never had them returned.
