I don't know what to do. :(

I tend to break out alot so i bought that neutrogena skin clearing makeup, and it works really well. i'd recommend it to anyone.

And i have the worst time finding my own shade because im super italian and have this yellowish golden undertone, so all those ivory shades make me took ether too pale or pinkie.

So it was a miracle when i found a makeup that cleared my skin and had my exact shade. :D

but the thing is, i bought it durring summer and now that im loosing my tan, it is a tad bit too dark. None of their other shades have a golden undertone and i cant wear any of the lighter tones.

Any help? :(

ill answer your question and give you the 10 points.

ive heard about baby powder or lotion, but those dont work because there naturally translucent and when you rub them in turn clear. Is there anything i can use to make it lighter without hurting my sensitive skin?

please help.

  1. i always have this problem when my tan fades and so i mix my foundation with oil of olay moisturizer. its good for sensitive skin and will help lighten the color of our foundation. 2 parts moisturizer 1 part foundation.

    best of luck bella.

  2. Hi honey.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there isn't any way to lighten a foundation and have it stillbe a good shade and texture.  I could tell you how to darken it but I know that won't help!!  Maybe you could plead with your parentsto go to Sephora.  They could find you a gorgeous, perfect shade in no time that will not clog your pores.  Otherwise I'm sawwy!!

  3. This website had some useful tips... http://www.thefrugalface.com/foundation....

The same website also had some suggestions for yellow based foundations, which sound like they may be right for you... http://www.thefrugalface.com/yellow-base...

  4. what about a lighter foundation over it...

  5. All you have to do is mix face moisturizer on a sponge with the makeup until it is the right shade.

  6. okay well i had the same problem and i now use physicians formula foundation it does the same as the neutrogena but it has different shades so you maybe able to find your current shade in their line

as to lighten your makeup buy some white facemakeup without oil and just mix it in

  7. add a bit of sunscreen to the foundation before you apply it to your face.

  8. I would suggest getting the next shade paler in the same brand, and mixing the 2.

  9. add a white moisturizer, that should help, it works for me!

  10. You can also use powder to adjust foundation colors. If your foundation is too light, you can add a little powdered bronzer, brown blush, or brown eyeshadow to darken it. Avoid using anything frosted. This can be a little tricky to get the color just right, so you will probably want to mix up a small batch in a separate bottle. You need to add very little powder. Of course, you can always just mix your foundation with a darker one. The powder method is just cheaper. You can also add baby powder to lighten a foundation. But be forewarned that depending on how much you add, the baby powder may make the formula drier and thicken it a little. You can also use a different color powder over your foundation to correct the color. For a foundation that is too light, use a darker powder. You can add a little bit of  bronzer, brown blush or brown eyeshadow (matte) to some of your regular face powder. If your foundation is too dark, you can use a lighter powder or try just straight baby powder. For a foundation that is too pink, you can try a yellow-based powder over it and vice-versa. I once mixed some matte yellow powder eyeshadow into my loose face powder. The color came out great, but it made the powder too thick and heavy textured. If you try something like this, do not use anything frosted, use very little eyeshadow (I used way too much), and only mix up a tiny amount at first to experiment with.

Technical tips for adjusting foundation colors and formulas. Anytime you alter a foundation, either mix it in small amounts in a separate container, or mix just enough in the palm of your hand for a single use. This keeps the make-up more sanitary (if you add water you could be introducing bacteria) and if you don't like how it came out or your skin tone or the weather changes, you haven't mixed the whole bottle. You can mix larger amounts if you are only combining foundations and not adding any oil or water to them. A container, jar or bottle with a tight lid you can re-seal works well. It is also helpful to pick something with a wide opening for easy mixing and cleaning. I bought a very cheap cream-type foundation in a wide mouthed jar at Pick N' Save and washed out the foundation and I use the jar for my mixtures. Of course, you can always use any empty foundation bottle you have and wash it out.

Adjusting foundation formulas. Why would anyone need to adjust a foundation formula? Usually weather changes or bought the wrong kind. Adding oil to oil-free. My mother bought the wrong shade of her foundation and lost the receipt. The color was fine for me so I got it. The oil-free formula worked well until the weather turned cold. Then it was just far too drying and uncomfortable for my dry skin. I tried using a heavy moisturizer underneath and patting moisturizer lightly on top of the foundation. Not enough. So I tried mixing 1-3 drops of baby oil (mineral oil which is very commonly used in cosmetics) in my palm with a quarter size dollop of foundation before applying it to my face. Problem solved. The foundation was then comfortable and usable. What is nice about this method is that when the weather gets hot again you can just leave out the oil and you don't have to own two different foundation formulas. I know it sounds time consuming and tedious to do this every morning but it isn't. You quickly get the hang of how much of each to use and foundation with oil in it is much quicker and easier to apply than oil-free. If you try this, I suggest you first add the baby oil to your palm before the foundation in case you add too much oil. I also recommend that you always mix it in the palm of your hand and don't try to mix it in a separate bottle nor add oil to your foundation bottle. It would be too difficult to mix the oil in evenly, as you know water and oil don't like to mix. You have to really work it and mix it well with your finger in your palm. "Lite" baby oil works best. Be forewarned that adding oil to a foundation may darken the color a touch. If your skin is not as dry as mine or the foundation formula is only a little drying, you can try mixing a little bit of moisturizer with it instead of baby oil.

  11. Maybe put a little oil free sunscreen or lotion in it.

  12. You have two options.

1: Go to a tanning salon, get your tan, use your foundation.

2: Get a new foundation and save the one you have until you get another tan.

You can't really "lighten" foundation and I wouldn't use it if you don't think it's the same color as your skin right now.

I know, foundations can be difficult :(

But if you don't want to spend too much money (or the time) looking for a completely new foundation, maybe try getting some cover-up? Go to the make-up people and ask what would suit you (at the Bay or some other department store). They're usually really helpful and can pin-point your exact tone, most of the time.

  13. you can either use the same foundation and make sure to have a much lighter powder to finish it (probably easiest and definately works), or buy a lighter shade of the foundation and blend them.  i'd reccomend blending them before you use them each time at first so you won't mess up the whole bottle.  try the powder in a really light shade, it works for darkening it when i use my winter foundation in the summer, so i'd do that.  i use the skin clearing neutragina foundation too and i love it

  14. Baby powder is basically talc which is colorless so this won't help. Moisturizers are emulsions, which only appear white, but are also colorless. Some "white" powders are almost pure talc, so they won't work either.

Your only solution is to tone down the foundation with a light face powder that contains titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is the only white colorant used in cosmetics. Ask for a light "complexion" powder with coverage and you'll be ok. Translucent powders generally contain no titanium dioxide.

You could try mixing it with white foundation, which can be found at hot topic and many other drug stores/stores where make up is sold. Sounds creepy, but it works!

I was skeptical, but it completely lightens the foundation.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

  15. Why don't you try getting a slightly lighter foundation and then add  some of it to the foundation you already have.

  16. Have you tried mixing the foundation with the same brand foundation in a lighter shade? This should easily lighten it up while keeping the yellow undertones of the original foundation that you like.
