English speech help!?

If you were to write a speech or essay on a song in comparison to a book, how would you start it?

Our next english project is on writing a speech of a song in comparison to the novel we finished reading (Of mice and men) and pick a particular theme it relates to.

I chose the song, All these things that ive done- The Killers and it relates to candys dream of being someone and living his dream. How would i start my speech?

  1. You could start out by quoting a particular line from the song (one that you thing really illustrates your point) and then relating a passage or line from the book that you think really parallels the song. Make sure these lines or passages have  big impact, in order to draw your audience in.

  2. A quote that connects both the song and the novel would be good, or a interesting rhetorical question to draw the audience in.
