10 POINTS!! In this recipe can i just use baking powder instead......?

of both cream of tartar and baking soda. i have baking soda but no cream of tartar.

SUGAR COOKIES:

* 2/3 cup whole wheat flour (I used a mixture of this and whole wheat pastry flour)

* 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

* 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

* 1/8 teaspoon salt, eyeball it

* 3 tablespoons Splenda sugar substitute, for baking large ones

* 8-9 tablespoons fat-free buttermilk

* 1 tablespoon plain fat-free yogurt

* 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

* 2 teaspoons Butter Buds or any other fat free butter flavoring

    hope they are nice

  3. It's probably not a good idea. Last time I tried something like that the muffins that I was making turned to 'rocks' and were not tasty when we could get into them. I would just go out and buy the cream of tartar rather than make bad cookies and have to waste them.

    Baking powder = baking soda + cream of tartar

  5. I would say no - even though the salt in tartar comes from baking power..

    instead.....

    If it calls for 1/2 tsp of it -  you substitute with 1 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice or vineger.

  6. Yes you can. Baking powder is made of 2 parts cream of tartar, 2 parts of rice flour and 1 part of baking soda,

    So you can use 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder in your recipe.
