  1. why cant you just buy a new bag?

    itx not that expensive

    or

    write on your backpack

    have ppl sign it

    put some keychains

    and pins and umm idk what else

    i would go to the dollar store

    and look for some stuff

  2. Go to a craft store and look at the patches. also you could add pins or keychains

  3. you could beads,buttons, paint, fabric,

    it would look really cool if screen printed designs on it or used iron transfer designs to add color and interest to it.

    just use your imagination and go wild anything you think of would look awesome. lay the backpack on a table and just stare and it and let all the DIY ideas come pouring in until you figure out the best way to make it cool.

    to get started i would also get spray paint, charms, glue, anything you think would work, you could even use recycled item such as can tabs, soda cans, old game pieces as charms, t-shirts ( they do come with really cool designs on them)

    um that's about it i guess so i can't wait to see it when your done

  4. Okay, this is how my daughter did hers and it looks AMAZING, she gets lots of compliments on it. Get glue or tape, felt pads in different colors and glue/tape them on! she did a layering thing to spell out her name(but it was difficult because she had 2 carve out letters like e and o). other things are buttons (pinning them on), using different color sharpies to write comments all over(this might look a bit tacky, so it depends on your taste), adding little plastic things(plastic lizards, animals, frogs, mice, e.t.c), adding things you collect(my daughter's SECOND backpack was decorated with polished rocks, while the first was foam pieces), drawing, printing out thing from the internet, your name in felt/some other fabric, clippings from magazines(ex. cars, celebs, flowers, e.t.c, whatever interests YOU), sport-related things(athlete's signatures, pics of soccer balls, footballs,basketballs, or anything you play/like), glitter, beads, iron-on things, rhinestones, fun sayings like"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?," news and update it(if you have the time, so not the best choice for a busy person), adding things according to season(pics of leaves in the fall,  pics snowflakes in winter, and pics of flowers in spring...i didnt put one for summer cuz...well its summer vacation time! Also, the first letter of your first name over and over in different colors(also might be tacky), your initials in different colors, squares of fabric to create a "quilt" look, and FINALLY, theme your backpack! (butterflies, hearts, the circus, jungle, rainbow, whatever!) . if you're willing to risk it, get jewelry and attach it, like thrusting earring studs in and fastening them, to add shine. remember if you do this you run the risk of someone stealing it, so when you attach ANYTHING, remember to secure it. Always remember these rules:

    1. You'll be taking this to school, pretty much EVERYDAY, so remember to keep it APPROPRIATE(my daughter told me about a kid who had an inapropriate backpack and got detention)

    2.Keep it YOU, so make it original and dont copy other's. copying will ruin your rep too.

    3. Have fun decorating!

  5. keep it simple, but you can iron on something or add buttons ,[strong] stickers, rhinestones, glitter, beads, and much more!

    ive made a tote bag for school with my name ironed on and buttons and stickers are around the name. its really pretty, have fun!

  6. Buttons and keychains, rhinstones...

  7. you can get patches at arts and crafts stores..also you can make your own keychains by making string bracelets...u ccan email me if u want

  8. Keep it simple

  9. Reusing bags can always be fun, as you save money and make it fresher for the next year :)

    I copied some tips from other websites as I'm not the greatest at decorating bags, so I hope I helped! Good luck!

    "Think about what you want your design to say about you. If you really want to show off your personality, have your friends write notes in different colored sharpies in strategic places on your bag (though this can be tacky). Tell your friends to keep it neat, and keep their language appropriate. Remember you have to carry this to class!

    3. Decide if you want more of a classic look, try adding different details in sharpie or paint pens in different places on your bag. You can draw anything from flowers to people to animals.

    4. Consider writing your name on the front of the bag so that everyone can see it. You could try decorating your name in different colors or patterns. Have your friends help, and you can decorate theirs too, for a set of custom backpacks that say something about you.

    5.

    Add a designer look by combining embroidery with beading to your appliqes.

    Pick up fun appliques from fabric stores. These are sometimes iron or sew on but you can attach them with fabric glue to fabric backpacks. Not only can you find fun flowers, you can also find rhinestones, sports themes, and characters. The selection will vary by store.

    6.

    Patches are a great way to set your bag apart. Look online but don't forget about uniform, army surplus and Bohemian shops.

    Look online or in local music stores for fabric patches for your favorite bands. If you don't sew you can usually iron them on or use fabric glue on fabric bags.

    7.

    Decorate with buttons. They're great to collect. Always look in music and novelty stores and check online. Get interesting ones your friends don't have.

    Button up! Buttons are a great way to show your personality.

    * Buttons are available with infinite designs, images or sayings. Shop around and find buttons that fit your style and taste. Hot Topic and accessory stores like Claire's often carry buttons. The selection usually varies by store.

    * Look online for buttons from foreign countries, foreign sport teams or different sayings.

    * Change them around to keep it interesting (avoid profanity on buttons going to school).

    * You can always unpin them to launder your bag.

    * Buttons work best on fabric bags as they can tear plastics.

    Tips

    * Don't freak out if you mess up. Most people think they've messed up and go over and over trying to correct it, only to make the letter or picture unrecognizable.

    * Don't worry what other people will think if it's a bit outlandish and colorful. They're probably just jealous of your awesome style!

    Warnings

    * Don't try too hard to copy what other girls or boys are doing. You'll only end up looking like a poser, and that's never good for your reputation. You'll look a lot more original if you just do what you like, not what someone else does.

    Things You'll Need

    * a backpack, school bag, or a tote bag of some sort

    * paint pens or sharpies

    * buttons

    * creativity"

    " 2. Get some fake fur and glue it on the sides.

    3. Take glitter glue and make a star on it, and write your name or anything inside the boundary of the star.

    4. Take rhinestones, beads etc, and decorate the bag however you like with them. Add pins if you like.

    5. If you are a boy, you'd probably rather cut your bag up and then stitch it back in dark thread. It makes it look amazing.

    Tips

    * Do not overdo the bag.

    * It should not be too messy.

    Warnings

    * Dry the glitter. Do not touch it when its wet.

    * Do not use regular glue. Use a glue gun to attach the beads, etc."

    " 1. Assemble the items under "Things You Need".

    2. Write your name on the inside of the bag. Use a permanent cloth marker. Make it small and neat.

    3. Commence decorating. Draw designs on the bag. Draw something on your gym bag. Although the design ideas are perfectly endless and depend on the current trends and your own superb creativity, some ideas for designs include:

    * Paisley swirls

    * Polka dots

    * Stripes

    * Cheese with holes and little mice darting in and out

    * Fruit in sequence, such as cherries, pineapples, pears

    * Mini spaceships and alien dogs

    * Copycat designs of designer labels but with distortions to make them truly unique (for instance, try using bubble letters)

    * Floral or natural themes

    4. Attach weather-resistant and shock proof decorations to your bag. While glue is fine for short-term durability, you will find that sewing on decorations where possible will provide the longest durability for your decorations and the sewing style needed is the simplest possible. Work around the designs that you have created to ensure an even and beautifying effect. You may wish to include such items as:

    * Sequins (these will fall off and fade over time but are not expensive losses and are easily replaced)

    * Ribbons (try tying in little bows)

    * Little beads

    * Buttons (sizes, colors and shapes should match your design theme)

    * Cloth patches etc.

    Tips

    * Marker colors come in a wide range; choose those that best match your style and design theme. Try to avoid colors that might clash with your sports uniform if you have one.

    * Adding the name of your school's mascot to the gym bag is one good idea that you might like to try.

    Things You'll Need

    * Plain small white bag suitable for gym or other sports

    * Permanent cloth markers

    * Any designs you would like to place on the bag (try drawing up your own ideas or use magazines, design books etc. for ideas)

    * Durable decorations you want to put on your gym bag (see some suggestions above)

    * Glue or paste suitable for cloth and fairly strong (remembering that the gym bag will be knocked about a bit from the normal wear and tear of taking it to and from sports sessions and getting caught up in equipment)"

  10. Buttons and pins are always good.  You could use iron-on appliques, you could sew on patches, add a chain or a string of beads, or use rhinestones.  You could actually try to make a collage on construction paper out of tons of your favorite things or pics, then stick it in a transparent folder (small or big, whichever fits your bag), staple or tape the folder shut and staple it to your bag. =)
