  1. dont listen to all of these other people, talking down on mitsubishi cars, i have a 2000 mitsubishi galant and a 1994 one too, the 94 has over 200k miles on it and still runs decent, my 2000 has just over 180k miles and runs perfect.  as long as you take car of it and change the fluids, i've always used mitsubishi trans fluid in them and a castrol GTX in the engine.    and i wouldnt hesitate to buy another mitsubishi today.

  2. Any car 13 - 14 years old or more automobile has the real potential to be a crappy first car.  Unfortunately, they aren't built to last forever.  I tend to hold on to vehicles for 10 years.  And around 10 years is when things generally start to need repairing.  While it still costs less than a new[er] vehicle they do become exponentially more unreliable at about 10 years.

As for the 1995 Mitsubishi?  The ONLY way I would consider it was if I was only going to be driving in town.  NO WAY I'd take a chance of getting stranded out in the middle of no where.  At least near home it's just an inconvenience for break downs or time spent in shop for minor [or even major] repairs.

I wouldn't take one for free.  As I've learned from the past and owning cars over 10 years, many places will want to charge you just to haul it off.  With some research though $500 to $1,000 is about the range that the Magna is selling for these days.  But a new set of tires can cost that much.  IF you know of a good mechanic that is reasonable with their prices then it could be a consideration.  And if the seller isn't asking more than $500 it could be a decent starter automobile.  Realistically I'd look around for something less than 10 years old.

While fuel injection, power steering and central locking sound like good features to have they are also more things that can go wrong on an older vehicle.

  3. My advice: RUN DON'T WALK AWAY from this disaster of a car.  The link below lists some major recalls on it so it sounds like a piece of junk that you don't want to mess with. Upon research it seems to have alot of ignition and engine problems.

Stick with an American made vehicle for reliability. I have a 1995 Chevy Corsica that shows 200K+ miles but still runs like a dream! Its a smaller car so the gas mileage is great also.

  4. Go to kelly blue book's website and enter the cars info & mileage to get a rough idea of it's worth.

I would probably be happy with this car, especially if gas money was an issue.
