  1. First things first 18 is the legal drinking age in Alberta!

As well there is no PST in Alberta, just the GST so you will be only paying 5% on your purchases. Some of the prices will be higher some will be lower. depends on where you go. But not having to pay PST is wonderful. The amount of money you bring depends upon how much shopping you want to do, where you want to go and what you want to see.

A must is the West Edmonton Mall, you can spend a few days there, well at least I can. There is so much to see in that Mall!

You can check out the Art Gallery if you like the Arts as well as there is the Telus World of Science and IMAX, Muttart Conservatory, Fort Edmonton.... the list is endless of things to do there, you just have to do some research!

As for shopping you can go to  South Edmonton Common, Mayfield Common etc there are lots of places to shop in Edmonton. Downtown is a pretty trendy place, there are a lot of cool little bistros, restaurants and shoppes.

Clothing: pretty much the same as you would wear in Toronto, the weather is so unpredictable now that you can never tell, so be prepared for anything!

You will be there around the same time we will be going as well!! We go to Edmonton about every 2 months to shop!

  2. if I could pick a place to go on Vacation...I would go to Montreal....

but anyway I'm not Canadian...and for me Edm seems such a small town specially compared to Toronto so be prepared and dont expect it to look anything like a  big city...

yea ...gst is only 5% and thas great...no pst or anything like that....west edmonton mall is a good place for shopping or Whyte ave has some great shops too...but a little pricey... if you want to save some money...go the the outlet stores in the south Edm Common.. your friend from Edm would prob know....Now It all depends on what type of stuff you want to buy..I have been to Toronto and omg everthing was way more expensive there...if you comapre prices with Holt renfrew for example..is way cheaper in Edm...I dont know why...drinks and restaurants will be a little cheaper too...

now places to party...Downtown and whyte ave...I'm sure your friend will know those and you will have a great time....

now.. things to pack...welll right now the weather is about 20, but its going to get a little warmer on the weekend.30 I heard..so yea you can bring mostly summer clothes..also you will find that people dont dress up too much here....well thats my opinion...but depends where you go...

I hope you enjoy your visit...:)

  3. You should also check out the Fringe Festival on whyte Avenue.  Lots of street stuff and plays indoors,
