I have to babsit this sunday for a 4 year old and 9 yearold. I know how to babysit, but I was wondering if you could give ideas for me on what to do with them. For tops they don't get along, but when they do they're pretty good.

  1. Try letting them play outside in the sprinkler or with chalk most kids these ages are happy6 doing that. Grab some movies!! Lots of luck

  2. Watch a really good cartoon/ movie like king kong or animals because children love animals!

also try cooking like cakes and stuff

kids like being practical am always baby sitting and i love it ;D

    Have fun x

  3. take them to the park or let them watch whatever they want in seperate rooms; just make sure you know where each of them are at the same time

  4. the first girl deserves best answer!

  5. You can watch movies or do puzzles and board games, or you could watch TV or bake (if you are allowed to use an oven)

Just NEVER play hide and seek when you babysit. The kids could get hurt and you wouldn't be able to see them.

    Please answer this. Thanks (:

  6. Find a goofy movie for them and play it in the dvd. You can make popcorn for them.

  7. you should do somekind of activities that they both enjoy, ask them what they like to do the 4 yr old will be a little harder to entertain but the 9 yr old make some snacks pop in a movie and make a bed in front of the tv. also maybe play cards, board games, coloring books, reading books...ect

  8. invite a friend who likes 2 play wit little kids and leave her with the 4 year old and ask the 9 year old wat she likes to do and if she says dance have a dace contest and let her win or play board game play 1 if they dont have any make 1 up or video games uh play one even if u ont like them so u could get throgh the night or mornig alive with them hating u

  9. games

    movies

  10. Play hide and go seek or tag.....there's also video games.  I have had to babysit several different ages....1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10...It would make it easier to give ideas if we knew the gender but those were some ideas that both would probably like.  You can also bake cookies to bring to them and tell stories while you eat them.

  11. pick out fun games they would enjoy. maybe plan a fun movie and popcorn night. be sure to give them both attention and dont favor one over the other. it may help to ask their parents what their favorite things are to do.

  12. Give them some Nyquil and then throw a party.

  13. 4 and 9... I would take them to a near by park. Maybe pack a picnic, that's what I always do. You can play outside in the sun with the sprinkler, or go biking. Board games might be tricky, but if the 9 year old doesn't mind easy games, you could always play inside. Separately ask them what they like to do (so they don't automatically say they hate what the other likes) and see if there is any compromise on their favorite activities.

  14. you could play board games, and if that doesn't work, you can try more active games like hide and go seek, or simon says. little kids love that stuff.

  15. How about finding out what they would like to do.  Maybe do something with both of them but at seperate times.  How about asking if the parents would mind if the 9 yr old could have a friend over.  Then you can spend your time with the 4 yr old.

  16. Play Hide and Seek

Rent a kids movie and sit them apart from each other

Read them a story with either of them on each side of you

    Play board games

  17. play twister! it never fails, kids love it! :)

  18. you should let them do stuff they like mayb video games movies and other stuff like that and if ur cooking u might b able to make there fave thing

  19. get a pie pan....milk...and food coloring.....

just put drops of coloring in the milk and watch the colors swirl around....kids love it!!! messy though!!

or find something fun the cook with them....like have them make their own pizza......with what they want on it

begals and red sauce are easy, cheap, and great to use....

  20. You could watch Disney channel if their parents allow the 4 year old too, all kids like that. A lot of times kids are bored with what's at their house so if you bring a couple board games or puzzles they would probably be interested in playing them. Coloring, reading books to them or playing outside is always a good option.

  21. video games, board games, fun activity stuff for kids

  22. Never leave the kids alone. They might draw on walls or get into something they shouldn't be in. Keep them occupied and bring lots of fun games.

Make a Fun Bag. In the fun bag you could have candy (if they are allowed), movies, coloring pages, stickers, books, games, and crafts, as well as various things for you when the kids go to sleep. The things in the Fun bag should consider the age of the children you are babysitting, as very young children will appreciate different things to older children.

When the kids start to get fussy or antsy, ask them if they want to color / do a project / play a game. They say yes and, voila! Fun bag!

Play with the children. They won't like it if you don't play. So, take out the thing they want to do. If you are doing a project or coloring and you have messy toddlers, let them help put down newspaper or a plastic mat to protect floors and tables. Have fun and they will be able to tell and enjoy your presence more.

For projects; when making things if you can make it edible it's good. Some finger painting recipies are edible. (Vanilla yogurt with food coloring)

Little kids also love doing things for themselves. Let them pour or stir their own drinks, make their own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, or help you make cookies. It helps pass the time while teaching them skills, and they will feel more involved and grown up instead of you taking over everything.

Put a chair by the sink for the kids to stand on, and let them help you wash the dishes. (Take out sharp objects like forks hiding in the suds so they don't get poked accidentally.) Being allowed to help you wash the dishes can be a reward for young children.

Be patient with the children if they start getting bored or miserable, show them the things they have brought and encourage them to play. If they don't want to do something in particular, find something else for them to do!

Take them outside! Ride bikes, go to the park, walk the dog, anything outdoors will run their energy out! Make sure to be very careful because the outdoors also has many hazards.

Play fun age appropriate games. Don't do something that is to old for the kids because you want parents to want you to come back.

Make or buy play-dough. If you have a recipe that doesn't involve cooking on the stove, you can have the kids help make it. If you don't have the materials needed for play-dough, you can make something called Ooblek with simply water and cornstarch. This is especially good because it doesn't involve dangerous, hot ovens or sharp objects. Do this outside of course, as it is extremely messy, but that's the fun of it!

Pick a movie appropriate for the age group you're babysitting. Pop some popcorn and put the popcorn in individual bowls for each child (if they are young). Give each child a ticket awhile before the movie. Be the ticket-taker at the door to the room, and give each child a bowl of popcorn. Then turn off the lights and start the movie!

Make a tent! Use chairs and big blankets. Fill the inside with pillows and blankets. After it's made, you can tell (or read!) stories. If it's possible, make it over a TV, so the TV is inside, and you have a movie theater! If the children are 4 or older (and less likely to make a mess), pop some popcorn to get the great movie atmosphere!

Remember, toddlers love anything that keeps them active. If everyone's bored, take out some scarves, turn on the music, and dance! If you have a lot of children, play freeze tag, or a team game where EVERYONE needs to be involved.

[edit] TipsMany things that adults think of as drudgery is fun for young children. Find ways to let them help you and make them feel important. Thank them for helping.

Play with the children. They'll like it when you get involved and will ask for you as their babysitter. Neither parents nor kids like lazy babysitters who stay on the phone all day.

Don't make a mess. Leave the house as clean or cleaner than you found it.

Always clean up after an activity. But don't do it alone. Have the kids help, too. You can sing this song: "Clean up, clean up. Everybody do their share. Clean up, clean up. Everybody, everywhere," You can make up your own melody.

Don't just sit down and watch a movie. Keep the kids active. If it is a nice day, go outside play with a ball or your dog or your tramp.

If it is dark encourage NOT to go outside =)

] WarningsDon't let the kids use sharp objects or permanent markers. They could hurt themselves or other children.

    Things You'll NeedTote bag

Entertainment such as toys and games

    Coloring things

    Paper

Crafts you can do together (For young kids have most of the stuff cut out if you think they will need a lot of your help.)

    Movies (age appropriate)

Cell Phone in case of emergencies only

Rewards for good boys and girls like candy and small toys, just make sure they don't choke on them. Stickers are good if you don't want to worry about what they can and can't eat.

  23. Watch TV, play on computer, play a board game, let them tie you up and tickle you...okay, i was joking about the last one... :-)

    Be creative, it'll be fun.

  24. Make cupcakes or if you don't want to spend time making them, bring them some already made and just decorate them. You could get all the supplies at the dollar store or even at the grocery store or if you already have frosting and sprinkles bring it from home.

  25. It's easy! Do the things that you use to do as a child! You know you want to! Acting young again is so much fun and the kids will have a great time too. Take advantage of the warm weather and find some fun outdoor games.
