  1. 10:y = 3:5

    3y  = 50 so y  = 50/3

    It is a simple ratio and proportion problem.

    Cheer up buddy, I was browsing for my study materials and fortunately locate a site http://www.examville.com.Lot of study materials are available which will help the students to learn the basics in variety of subject areas.Moreover ALL THE MATERIALS ARE FREE TO DOWNLOAD.

    The problem with the math queries is sometimes they associate with figures. We can attach an image too in the Q&A section of this site and we receive nice feedbacks.

  2. 10:y=3:5

    10/y=3/5

    y=50/3

  3. 10/y=3/5

    :-50=3y

    y=50/3=16.666

  4. 10 is to y mean 10/y  3is to 5 mean 3/5    10/y=3/5  y=50/3

  5. 10/y = 3/5

    10x5=3xy

    y=50/3

  6. Use the pythagorean theorem... i have the link below.

  7. ASK YOUR TEACHERS!!!!!!!! NOT YAHOO USERS

  8. 10:y=3:5

    10*5=3*y

    50=3y

    50/3=y

  9. Think of it this way: 10 is to y means 10/y and 3 is to 5 means 3/5. Set up a proportion like this; 10/y=3/5

    Cross multiply to get: 3y=50 (3*y is 3y and 10*5 is 50)

    Divide both sides to get y by itself and you get;

    y=50/3<=== answer

  10. The formula for the problem is

    10/y = 3/5

    To solve these problems you cross multiply, the numerator of one side is multiplied by the denominator of the other

    10*5 = 3*y

    50 = 3y

    Divide both sides by 3 to get

    50/3 = y

  11. Think of it this way, 10/y=3/5

    the answer is 10*5/3 so it's 50/3

  12. 10/y=3/5

    10*5=3*y

    50=3y

    y=50/3

  13. its very simple

    ita called proportion

    in a proposition product of means=product of extremes

    so

    y*3=10*5

    =>y=50/3.

  14. 10:y = 3:5

    10/y = 3/5

    Cross-multipling

    We get,

    50 = 3y

    50/3 = y

    y = 16.66666

    or y = 16.67(approx.)
