what would be 5 design features for of an aviary?

Make sure no big birds like crows or butcher birds can get through the bars because if they can they will kill your birds. Plenty of room to fly so make it tall and have perches and if you are hoping to breed bird boxes but don't put anything inside they like to do that them selves.

* Bars or wire that is large enough for the birds inside to comfortably grasp in their feet, but with spaces too small for them to stick their heads through.

* A roof made out of a material that is less conductive to heat, such as wood, to shelter the birds from rain and sun.

* If the birds will be in the aviary continuously throughout the year, a temperature controlled room (either an oversized and insulated nest box or an actual room) to help keep the birds cool in summer and warm in winter.

* Possibly cured branches for perches and even mature, live plants of a kind that are nontoxic to the birds--preferably moveable so that they can be rotated out if the birds see fit to try to destroy them.

* Large food and water dishes set away from the perches so that feathers/p**p won't land in the dishes and dirty their contents.
