  1. group policy SUCKS!!!!

heres how to completely destroy it

  2. are you logged on to your system as a GUEST?

try logging as a POWER USER or ADMINISTRATOR before changing your firewall settings...

  3. there are written at the top, some settings are controlled by group policy

open control panel, run administrate computer applet, then Local security settings and search around Windows Firewall settings in group policy

and yes, you needs to be an administrator

  4. Try this:

    1) Right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage".

    2) This brings up the Computer Management screen; there will be a tree of options on the left. Click the plus sign next to "Services and Applications" to expand it.

    3) Select "Services".

    4) Find the "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service in the list of services on the right. If the status isn't "Started", right click on it and select the "Start" option. Make sure that the startup type is "Automatic"...if it isn't right click on the service again and select properties and change the startup type to Automatic.

Now try to turn on the firewall.

    I hope it works!

  5. hi as its says it's controllled by a group policy, if the computer is generally on a company network it will be a network group policy and the only person is your network/server admin, but if you only work from home you may have some type of personal firewall installed or a virus or spyware that has changed your local policy, to switch on the firewall

from the run menu type gpredit.msc > computer configuration > administrative templates > network > network connections > windows firewall standard profile & make sure and make sure there is nothing enabled/disabled which is preventing the firewall from enabling
